KOTO is a not-for-profit restaurant and vocational training program that is changing the lives of street and disadvantaged youth in Vietnam.

With that significant meaning, KOTO, it is located close to Van Mieu – the first University in Vietnam and managed by Jimmy Pham with Vietnamese and foreign professional cooks. It not only boast the traditional restaurant but also the Vietnamese traditional cooking classes.
This tour offers Vietnamese cooking classes for tourists who are interested in cooking. The teachers bring their excellent skills to you in the fun environment. They have often practise themselves abroad and thus have numerous experience and are able to speak good English.
Teacher can prepare all the ingredients for you. You observe and practise right in the class. After your practical class, it is time to taste the dishes you have prepared and our expert chef will be able to give his feedback on your own chef skill. That would be your unforgettable memory.

You will be picked up from your hotel to the restaurant KOTO where you will learn how to cook some typical Vietnamese dishes which represent the North of Vietnam. Vietnamese teacher will prepare and help you to cook your dinner. You will have dinner with the meals that you have cooked.
Hereby is some sample menus for you to choose. Let discover and enjoy the way it should be. Each has been developed specially to give an all-round flavour of Vietnamese cuisine. You will have lunch with the dishes that you have cooked.
a) Smokey eggplant with garlic, chili and basil (Ca Tim Nuong Voi Toi Ot):
3 medium eggplants
1tsp sugar
1tbls rice vinegar
2 tbls fish sauce
1 chili, deseeded and finely chopped
1tbls vegetable oil
4 garlic cloves, chopped
½ cup basil leaves, roughly chopped
Cracked pepper to taste
b) Pork and mushroom pastries 9 ( Banh Goi):
350 g pork mince
15 g dried black mushroom
25 g dried wood ear mushroom
2 spring onions, finely chopped
40 g glass noodles
1 bunch coriander, finely chopped
50 g bean sprouts, finely chopped
½ tbls fish sauce
2 eggs, lightly beaten
20 Banh Gon wrappers
c) Green papaya salad with roasted beef (Nom Du Du):
100g green papaya, julienned
20g carrot, julienned
30g roast beef, julienned or Vietnamese dried beef
5g spearmint, leaves roughly torn
5g coriander
5g marjoram
20g roast peanuts, crushed
10g fried shallot
1 chilly
2 cloves garlic, chopped
30ml sweet and sour sauce
